Privacy policy.

How Bay Lingo S.L. handles information connected with Spanlingo enquiries and Spanish tuition.

Last updated: 9 October 2026. This policy adapts Bay Lingo's privacy policy for Spanlingo's online tuition and enquiry service.

1. Data controller

Spanlingo is a service of Bay Lingo S.L. (NIF/CIF B56327810), Plaza Marqués de Seoane 3, Bajo BC, 20110 Pasai San Pedro, Pasaia (Gipuzkoa), Spain. Bay Lingo S.L. is the controller of personal data collected through this site. Contact us at info@spanlingo.ie or info@baylingo.com. See our legal notice for business details.

2. What information we collect

When an adult uses the BLCMS enquiry form, we collect their name and email address, the learner stage, and any goals or preferred times they choose to send. We also receive ordinary website and security information such as IP address, browser information and the page used to submit the form. If lessons are arranged, we may later collect the contact, billing and learning information needed to deliver them. We do not ask for card details through the enquiry form.

3. Purposes and lawful bases

  • Enquiries and booking: to respond and take steps requested before a tuition contract; GDPR Article 6(1)(b).
  • Tuition and billing: to deliver an agreed service and manage payment; GDPR Article 6(1)(b), with legal obligations for records where applicable under Article 6(1)(c).
  • Website security and service administration: to prevent misuse, maintain records of communications and protect legal interests; GDPR Article 6(1)(f), where applicable.
  • Marketing: only where a separate, valid opt-in or another lawful basis applies. The Spanlingo lesson enquiry form does not subscribe people to marketing.

4. Children and parents

For a learner under 18, a parent or guardian should make the initial enquiry, arrange the booking and handle payment. Please do not send a child's full name, date of birth, health information or school records through the initial form. If further learner information is needed for tuition, Bay Lingo will explain what is required and how it will be used. Children have their own data protection rights. Where consent is the legal basis for a child-facing online service, the applicable rules on parental authorisation will be observed.

5. Who may receive information

Authorised Bay Lingo personnel can access enquiries in the BLCMS website. Hosting, email, video-meeting and payment providers may process only the information necessary for the service used, under appropriate arrangements. Information may also be disclosed where required by law. We do not publish a learner's image or testimonial without an appropriate separate permission. Before adding a new payment or video provider, Bay Lingo will review its privacy information and any international-transfer safeguards.

6. Retention and security

Bay Lingo keeps information for the period needed to answer an enquiry, provide tuition, handle possible claims and meet applicable accounting, tax or other legal obligations; it is then deleted or anonymised as appropriate. Access is limited to authorised people and proportionate technical and organisational safeguards are used. Please avoid sending sensitive information through the first enquiry.

7. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, and may withdraw consent where consent is used. Write to info@spanlingo.ie or to the postal address above. Bay Lingo may need reasonable information to verify the requester; it will not routinely require a copy of an identity document where a less intrusive check will do. You can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or, where appropriate, the Irish Data Protection Commission.

8. Other sites and updates

External websites and platforms have their own privacy terms. This policy may change if Spanlingo's services or providers change; the current version will be shown on this page. Questions can be sent to the addresses above.
